Newton, Kan.– Prairie View is pleased to announce the addition of Andrea Reed, PhD, LMLP, to its staff as psychologist privileged to treat patients ages 2 to 60.
“I chose to work at Prairie View because of the reputation and history the organization has inWichitaand the surrounding areas,” she said. “That, coupled with the opportunity to work with a diverse clientele ranging in age, socioeconomic status and presenting problems made Prairie View an ideal work environment.”
She holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Wichita State University, a Juris Doctor degree from Washburn University School of Law, a master’s degree in psychology from Wichita State University, and a doctorate degree in Community-Clinical Psychology from Wichita State University.
“I entered the field of mental health for a multitude of reasons. First, and foremost, I wanted to be part of the change people make to improve the quality of their life and the lives of their loved ones,” she said. “I believe in an ecological approach which recognizes that people are not alone in the universe nor do they exist in a vacuum. Rather, who we are, how we think and how we feel influences the world around us and is influenced by the world around us as well. Therefore, by making the smallest changes we, as individuals, can impact our lives greatly. I want to help people of all ages to gain the tools and insight to feel empowered to make those changes for themselves.”
While at Prairie View, Reed hopes to not only to assist children, adults and families to gain the tools and empowerment to affect positive change in their lives, but to become engaged in the organization itself, including being involved in the training of students and new professionals.
Her treatment specialties include: anxiety and depressive disorders, PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, ADD/ADHD in children and adults, conduct problems, parenting, abuse and recovery, eating and sexual disorders, emotion regulation, behavior management, stress management, and obsessive compulsive disorders.
She will provide outpatient services at Prairie View’s Reflection Ridge office, located at 7570 W. 21st Street North, Suite 1026-D, in west Wichita.
