West Wichita Caregiver Group to discuss effective communication

NEWTON, Kan. (July 31, 2015) – “Communicating Effectively in Challenging Situations” is the title for the next west Wichita Caregiver Group. It will meet from 3 to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18 in the conference room at Prairie View’s Reflection Ridge office, 7570 W. 21st St. N., Suite 1026-D, Wichita, Kansas. Admission is free and open to the public.

“We will talk about tools for dealing with caregiving challenges, including setting limits and asking for help,” explains the facilitator and discussion leader Jennifer Hecht.

A licensed clinical professional counselor and clinical addictions counselor, Hecht works in the west Wichita Prairie View office and provides services for teens, adults and older adults. She has more than 15 years of experience in evaluating and treating a variety of issues, including substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, and stress reduction.

The West Wichita Caregiver Group meets the third Tuesday of each month at Prairie View’s Reflection Ridge office. It is open to caregivers for older adults and offers education, mutual support and problem solving with others who are dealing with similar caregiving situations. This includes caregivers whose care receiver has any illness, including dementia.
