NEWTON, Kan. (September 11, 2019) – Education runs deep in Dr. Milt Dougherty’s family. The son of educators, Dougherty has always enjoyed watching young people grow academically and socially.

After taking early retirement last year, knew he wanted to continue using 30+ years of educational experience to help students. He has been named Administrator of the Prairie View Special Purpose School, located on Prairie View’s campus at 1901 E. First St., Newton.

“I hope to contribute to the team at Prairie View by helping to improve the lives of our students,” says Dougherty. “I am blessed to have the opportunity to work with our educational staff, the students and other Prairie View staff committed to such a worthy cause.”

Dougherty’s professional background includes Head of School of The Independent School, Wichita; owner and CEO of Milt Dougherty and Associates; superintendent of USD 444 Little River; president of Promise Cyber School; high school principal for USD 239 Minneapolis; assistant principal for USD 364 Marysville; and a high school teacher and coach for USD 287 Pomona.

His biggest educational accomplishment, though, he says, is “getting to be actively involved in the education of my own children.” The father of six says, “Any other honors would be secondary.”
