New Psychiatrist Joins Prairie View’s Team
February 8, 2017
NEWTON, Kan. (Feb. 7, 2017) – Prairie View Inc. welcomes psychiatrist Aveekshit Tripathi, MD, to its Addictions Treatment Center and West Wichita clinic.
Dr. Tripathi will provide psychiatric medication management and treatment for adolescents age 12 and up, adults, and older adults. “I believe in being a resource to my patients. As a team, we will work together to solve problems,” Dr. Tripathi says. He sees outpatient clients at Prairie View’s West Wichita clinic. “I was attracted to Prairie View because of the wide range of tools and services we have within our own system to treat clients.”
Dr. Tripathi earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Government Medical College, Trivandrum, Kerala, India and completed his psychiatry residency at University of Kansas School of Medicine, Wichita KS. Prior to joining Prairie View, Dr. Tripathi was Chief of Psychiatry at Via Christi Manhattan.
“The mental health field is challenging with few psychiatrists available to help those in need. There are even fewer who have interest in treating addictions,” says Gary A. Fast, MD, Medical Director at Prairie View.
The Addictions Treatment Center at Prairie View is in its fifth year and has experienced tremendous increase in clients seeking inpatient addiction treatment. Dr. Tripathi will serve as the lead psychiatrist for the Addictions Treatment Center. “I feel the population dealing with substance abuse is the most stigmatized group under the mental illness umbrella. However, ignoring substance abuse doesn’t make it go away,” says Tripathi. “No one should be too embarrassed or ashamed to reach out for help.”
“Dr. Tripathi brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to Prairie View’s guiding principles,” says Dr. Fast. “We are pleased to offer his skills and expertise to our clients.”
