Prairie View Welcomes Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
December 8, 2020
NEWTON, Kan. (December 8, 2020) – Prairie View welcomes Charlotte Siemens, MD, to its clinical staff as a Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. She serves children and adolescents ages 3 to 18 (if still in high school) at Prairie View’s Newton campus, located at 1901 E. First Street.
Dr. Siemens is responsible for psychiatric evaluations and medication management, as well as coordinating care with other mental health professionals, families, schools and social services.
She attended KU School of Medicine-Wichita and completed her clinical rotations in Wichita. As a medical student, her psychiatry rotation was done at Prairie View. That experience led her to the field of psychiatry.
Dr. Siemens completed three years of a General Psychiatry residency at KU School of Medicine and completed her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin.
“I view mental health treatment as a ‘cupcake.’ Medication is the ‘icing’ on the cupcake, and the ‘cake’ consists of good sleep habits, nutrition, exercise, using coping skills and communication,” says Dr. Siemens. “I love hearing patient’s life stories and helping to unravel the question of, ‘How did we get here?’”
Dr. Siemens accepts most primary insurances and Kansas Medicaid.
