May 16, 2022
NEWTON, Kan. (May 16, 2022) – Prairie View announces the addition of Vicki Penner, MDiv, LMSW, to its Newton campus as an outpatient social worker.
“I enjoy helping people identify their emotions and needs, brainstorming resources and accompanying them on their healing journey,” says Penner.
Penner will integrate this passion through her given responsibilities at Prairie View. She will run assessments and evaluations, conduct a variety of therapy options, create treatment plans and public speak about psychosocial spiritual topics.
“Since college, I have been interested in the psychosocial spiritual aspects of human nature and experience,” says Penner. “I enjoy assisting people on solving problems wholistically.”
Not only can Penner be an assistance to those with spiritual needs, but she is also available to help individuals, 18 years or older, facing depression, anxiety, Alzheimer’s disease, caregiving stress, general wellness concerns and more.
“Prairie View has an excellent reputation rooted in its history of Mennonites acting on faith to bring health and wellness to those struggling with mental health challenges,” says Penner. “I want to learn from current staff who continue this legacy and bring a psychosocial spiritual approach to healing.”
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Bethel College, North Newton, Kan., a master’s degree in Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Pittsburgh, Pa., and a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Kansas, Lawrence. In addition, she is ordained from the Western District Conference of the Mennonite Church USA.
