Prairie View Promotes Staff

August 13, 2019

Newton, Kan. (August 13, 2019) – Prairie View announces the promotions of Georgia Berning, Jill Cartwright, RN, Amber Peterson and Stefanie Roth, RN.

After serving as a financial counselor at Prairie View since the fall of 2017, Berning now serves as Patient Service Coordinator. Her primary responsibilities include monitoring and evaluating daily admissions and scheduling processes for all levels of care and helping to find resources within the community for those who may be struggling.

“I really look forward to working with our Admissions staff and learning from their 40+ years of combined knowledge,” she says. “This group is a stunning example of working hard to meet our patients’ needs by any means possible.”

For Berning, it’s important that Prairie View continues to foster a culture of acceptance and understanding of those who seek treatment.

“Because Admissions is the first contact many of our patients have with Prairie View, I want to ensure everyone is met with respect and compassion for the sometimes-difficult situations we find ourselves in,” says Berning. “I believe the quality of help we offer people is life-changing, and I am so proud to be associated with an organization of that reputation.”

Cartwright has accepted the position of Program Implementation Manager for Inpatient Services. She provides direct supervision of the Partial Day Hospital and leadership responsibilities for program enhancements to Prairie View’s new electronic medical record (EMR) system and the infection control program. She will also serve as liaison with the external pharmacy provider.

“After working on the EMR launch, I realized how much I enjoy collaborating on projects with others,” she says. “I am looking forward to the variety and challenge of this position, as well as getting to work on projects with others again.”

Peterson has been named Office Coordinator of Prairie View’s Marion County office, located in Hillsboro. She has been employed with Prairie View since 2013 as Financial Counselor and Receptionist. As Office Coordinator, Peterson is responsible for using the EMR to maintain medical records electronically according to code, scheduling appointments, greeting clients and performing clerical work.

“I am looking forward to continuing to make the Marion County office a nice, inviting place for clients and staff,” she says. “I’ll help direct those who seek our services at the Marion County office to the appropriate clinician to get the help that they need.”

Another important priority for Peterson is to ensure clients are treated with respect and compassion.

“My goal is to help our clients by the best means possible that benefits them and their personal journey.”

Roth now serves as Outpatient Director of Nursing. Her career at Prairie View began in 2005 as Nurse Manager, as position she held for two years. After eight years away from Prairie View, she returned as a Registered Nurse in Prairie View’s West Wichita office. In her new role, she will provide oversight to all outpatient nursing staff, serve as Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) lab director and coordinate Prairie View’s tobacco cessation efforts. She will also direct Prairie View’s involvement with OneCare Kansas, “a new Medicaid option to provide coordination of physical and behavioral health care with long term services and supports for people with chronic conditions,” according to KanCare’s website.

While Roth is looking forward to new opportunities to grow personally and professionally, and to help Prairie View grow, she also looks forward “to the opportunity to meet new clients and help them in their journey to success. I’m also very committed to our outpatient offices and will continue to work with staff and clients to help them achieve the best possible outcomes.”
