Prairie View to host “A Beautiful View” art exhibit

NEWTON, Kan. (January 23, 2018) – Prairie View, Inc., invites the public to “A Beautiful View,” a fine art exhibition and fundraiser.  All proceeds will support Prairie View to treat mental illness and addiction disorders.

The event, with hors d’oeuvres, live music provided by Dave Anderson and a watercolor painting demonstration by local artist Susan Bartel, is set for 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, at Prairie View’s Recreation Center, 1901 E. First St., Newton. The event features more than 100 pieces by artists from the surrounding area, including Newton, Halstead, Hesston, Hillsboro, Lawrence, McPherson, Moundridge, Peabody, Wichita and Winfield. Some art will be sold through silent auction, and a live auction of selected pieces will begin at 7:15 p.m. Other pieces, not included in the auctions, will also be for sale.

“Doppleganger” by Newton artist Juris “George” Krievins is this year’s commemorative piece. The 24×18 acrylic will be available for sale. Notecards featuring “Doppleganger” will also be for sale the evening of the event.
