Prairie View Welcomes Licensed Addiction Counselor
June 21, 2022
Prairie View announces the addition of Cecile McAlpine, LAC, PCCM, to its Newton staff. She provides addictions counseling services as an outpatient individual and group therapy counselor.
“I have enjoyed a very rewarding career working with individuals to decrease their risk factors for substance abuse and giving continual addiction counseling services to a diverse population,” says McAlpine. “I’m passionate about helping people begin the recovery journey to discover their more authentic self.”
She began her career at an inpatient substance use treatment facility, Women’s Recovery, in 1993 because she wanted to be an agent of change. While later employed by Sedgwick County Department of Corrections Residential, she discovered that certain risk factors led to substance abuse and dependence. As a result, she created Yale Crowberg Learning Center to provide GED education and later expanded the center into a non-profit organization.
McAlpine holds a bachelor’s degree in General Studies with emphases in Sociology, Psychology and Women’s Studies from Wichita State University. She was also a Ronald McNair Scholars Program participant.
